ERS – Emissions Recovery System

ERS – Emissions Recovery System

Reduce emissions and recover gas

Methane emissions from reciprocating compressors represent one of the most concentrated and addressable sources of greenhouse gas emissions in the natural gas value chain. HOERBIGER’s Emissions Recovery System (ERS) captures methane from rod packing vents, dry gas seal primary vents and other low-pressure emission sources, then recompresses it back into the process, storage tank or fuel gas line where it can be reused. By recovering gas that would otherwise be lost to the atmosphere, ERS enables to achieve immediate, measurable reductions in methane and CO2eq. while improving operational efficiency and supporting evolving environmental expectations.

DO ANY OF THESE CHALLENGES SOUND FAMILIAR?

  • Continuous methane loss (unseen but significant)
  • Increasing regulatory pressure
  • Conventional solutions do not fit packing case behavior
  • Operational tradeoffs (maintenance vs. emissions)
  • Lack of integration with existing equipment
  • Reliability concerns with new systems
  • Lost product = Lost revenue

Then the ERS is the right choice!

Your benefits at a glance

Plug and play

The ERS has been designed with the needs of the operator in mind. It is easy to integrate with an existing plant, minimizing the needed modifications to piping and thus simplifying the MOC process

Easy to use and maintain

ERS gives no headache to the operator – not in usage, not in service. The number of wear parts or consumables is reduced to the minimum and the layout is designed for maximum accessibility

Adaptable

Seal gas flows are inherently unstable and can vary over a very wide range. The ERS has been designed to handle sudden jumps
in flow and pressure without tripping

Right-sized

As the only system in the market specifically designed for seal gas recovery, the ERS has just the right specs for the job

Safe

The ERS has been designed to the highest safety standards. It can be installed in potentially explosive atmosphere (Ex Zone 2 or Class 1 Div. 2) without requiring a change in area classification

Smart

The ERS can be controlled locally as well as integrated to an existing higher-level PLC or DCS. Its control logic features an AUTO mode for enhanced efficiency or a MANUAL mode to maximize run stability
